Sudan transition: Protest group calls for strike as talks with army in deadlock
Issued on: Modified:
Sudan's main protest group is calling for a general strike, saying two late night negotiation sessions with the military have failed to result in a deal on how to lead the country after the overthrow of al-Bashir. Protesters are demanding that civilians head the new sovereign council to oversee a three-year transition toward democracy. The army is still insisting on directing the transition and keeping a military majority.
