US-Iran conflict: Do rising tensions leave Europe in the middle?
Tensions between the US and Iran have reached a new high as the US responds to Iran's decision to surpass it's uranium stockpile limit, set in the 2015 nuclear deal, by deploying an additional 1,000 US troops to Iran. After the US pulled out of the nuclear deal last year and subsequently imposed heavy economic sanctions on Iran, many wonder where this leaves the European countries who still remain part of the agreement. Research fellow at the Institute of International Relations and Strategies Thierry Coville comments on French president Macron's statement that "Iran is respecting it's commitments" to the deal despite their announcement. Macron added that Iran is strongly encouraged to "continue its patient and responsible behavior."
