French PM Philippe unveils 18-billion-euro rescue plan for tourism sector

The French government unveiled its “Marshall plan” for the country's tourism sector, which has been hit hard by the coronavirus crisis and the resulting shutdown in tourist attractions and hotels. “It constitutes a pledge of more than €18 billion of financial aid from the state”, PM Edouard Philippe announced. France is the World’s No 1 touristic destination, as the sector represents 7% of the country’s GDP and up to 2 million jobs.
