Burundi expels WHO team ahead of presidential poll despite Covid-19 pandemic

As the East-African nation of Burundi prepares to hold presidential elections next week despite health-risk concerns, the country’s authorities announced the expelling of the World Health Organization’s top official in the country, Matshidiso Moeti, along with other 3 officials. The country had already accused the WHO to interfere with its response to the coronavirus pandemic. Burundi is among the least affected African countries by the virus, but experts suspect the rates to be underreported.
