Chinese telecom Huawei to be excluded from UK 5G phone network

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave today the order that Chinese telecoms giant Huawei should have no role in UK’s new 5G phone network and that any equipment already installed is to be removed by 2027. The moves comes after Washington warned it could cut intelligence-sharing agreements if London went ahead with a Huawei deal, due to fears that Chinese equipment could infiltrate British networks, as FRANCE 24’s London correspondent Bénédicte Paviot reports.
