The famous Hagia Sophia in Turkey was on Friday holding its first prayers since being reconverted into a mosque. FRANCE 24’s international affairs editor Douglas Herbert says while President Erdogan’s base greeted the decision as the “rightful return” of the museum into a place of Muslim worship, critics lament losing a symbol of multiculturalism and bridge between East and West.
