US to send federal agents to more cities, but denies local protests the target

The US Justice Department has announced it will send dozens of federal agents to Detroit, Milwaukee and Cleveland, following similar deployments to cities such as Chicago and Kansas City. The US Attorneys Office says the deployment is not aimed at local protest activity or civil disturbances. In the meantime, the Trump administration is planning to withdraw some forces from Portland, on the proviso that local government properties not be further attacked.
