Israel's synagogues to stay open for Yom Kippur

Israel was on Monday preparing for Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement. The country will this year mark the occasion under lockdown, though Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has given synagogues the right to remain open, caving into pressure from Orthodox members of his party, in spite of prevailing medical advice.
