Russia and Turkey to jointly monitor Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire

On Monday, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a Russian-brokered peace deal which brought fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh to an end, after six weeks of at times deadly conflict. But if Russia at first glance appeared to be the main arbiter of peace, Turkey also played a large role. This agreement is a diplomatic and strategic victory for Baku's main ally, Turkey, and marks a shift away from Western-led global diplomacy.
