France’s decision to suspend all Brazil-France flights ‘surprising for being taken so late’

France announced on Tuesday it is to suspend all flights to and from Brazil to try and limit the spread of an aggressive variant of the coronavirus. French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced it, following the advice of doctors who say that the Brazilian strain known as P1 is to blame for a sharp rise in recent Brazil’s death toll. “It is a surprise such decision has taken so long: most Latin American countries have already done so”, FRANCE 24’s Rio de Janeiro correspondent Tim Vickery reports.
