Iran swears in new hard-line president amid regional tension

Ebrahim Raisi was sworn in on Thursday as the new Iranian president, pledging his utmost for domestic economic development amid U.S. sanctions and for peace and friendship with regional states. The conservative judiciary chief succeeds Hassan Rouhani after winning the June elections which were marked by record abstention.
