Western nations rush to evacuate staff, locals from Afghanistan

Western nations rushed to evacuate their citizens and local staff from Kabul on Monday (August 16, 2021) after the Taliban's lightning fast takeover of Afghanistan. US troops fired shots into the air and all commercial flights were cancelled at Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport as thousands of Afghans crowded onto the tarmac in the hope of catching any flight out.
