For the first since 2001, there are no American troops in Afghanistan after the United States completed the evacuation of most of its citizens and thousands of at-risk Afghans. Afghans on Tuesday (August 31) woke to the start of another uncertain era after the last American forces left overnight, cementing victory for the Taliban after two decades of war.
