The beginning of the European football championships in August is hotly anticipated by gamblers in Senegal. Young people in the working-class suburbs of Dakar, faced with unemployment, often put all their hopes on these games of chance to the point of becoming addicted. In the capital, the opportunity to place a bet is omnipresent with betting companies on the increase. Critics though warn of the harmful effects of this phenomenon.
